Library and Archive of the School of Arabic Studies (CSIC)

The Library of the School of Arabic Studies (EEA) is an essential reference in the field of Arabic and Andalusian studies. It is a public library with restricted access, integrated  in the CSIC Libraries and Archives Network. Its documentary collection consists of over 18,000 printed monographs and about 100 journals, specializes in medieval Islamic civilization, with special attention to al-Andalus.

From its collection of Arabic manuscripts -134 works distributed in 64 volumes- shoud be enhanced the Treatise of agriculture, composed by Ibn Luyun in Almería, in 1348. It also has old collections from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries very representative of Orientalism and European and Spanish Arabism in the early times, with some specimens especially valuable for scientific interest they had at the time, by its literature value, being rare specimens or first editions, or simply for their beauty. The entire collection of manuscripts and a selection of the old collection have been digitized and are available in full text through Simurg and Manuscripta.CSIC websites.

The Archive of the EEA (AEA) custodies administrative and scientific documentation. both textual as iconographic, generated by the institution from its founding until the early eighties. It is being organized, classified and cataloged, with access still restricted.

The library is actively involved in the dissemination of scientific research results, through its Delegate File Service in Digital CSIC and the organization of cultural events and exhibitions references.
