Publication of ‘The Maghrib in the Mashriq. Knowledge, Travel and Identity’, edited by Maribel Fierro (ILC, CSIC) and Mayte Penelas (EEA, CSIC)

The volume “The Maghrib in the Mashriq. Knowledge, Travel and Identity” edited by Maribel Fierro (Institute of Languages and Cultures of the Mediterranean and the Near East, CSIC) and Mayte Penelas (School of Arabic Studies, CSIC) has been published open access by De Gruyter within the “Studies in the History and Culture of the Middle East” series.

The volume presents some of the results achieved in the Research Project «Local contexts and global dynamics: al-Andalus and the Maghrib in the Islamic East (AMOI)», directed by Maribel Fierro and Mayte Penelas with funding from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (FFI2016-78878-R AEI/FEDER, UE).

Apart from the introductory chapter written by Maribel Fierro and Mayte Penelas, the book contains 18 contributions by senior and junior scholars from different institutions all over the world. Abdenour Padillo-Saoud (School of Arabic Studies, CSIC) has authored the chapter entitled “Al-Andalus in al-Mukhtaṣar fī akhbār al-bashar, by Abū al-Fidāʾ”.
